How does commission work?

A commission of 19.5% is deducted from your total sales. This should be factored into your selling prices. The remainder is paid to you after the market ends, directly into your bank account.

Do I need to be at my table?

No. South Market is fully managed — our team handles all sales and customer interactions. You only need to drop off stock if it runs low. We will ensure your table is stocked and presentable.

How do barcodes work?

Every product needs a barcode. You can use your own if they are already on your products, or we will generate South Market barcodes and print labels for you. Labels are collected before the market opens and additional ones can be printed during the market.

When do I get paid?

Your final payment is deposited directly into your bank account after the market closes. Please ensure your banking details are correct in your profile to avoid any delays.

How does the approval process work?

You can present your products at a selection day (Craft X-PO or Cape Academy) or apply online with photos. Selection results are emailed to all applicants after the process is complete.

How do I track my sales?

You can track all your sales in real time through our online vendor portal. Log in to your account to view daily sales, product performance, and your total earnings.

Can I restock during the market?

Yes. You have access every morning from 8am to 9am. If you need to restock during the day, speak to one of the organisers. Make sure you bring enough stock for the full duration.

Can I place items in front of my table?

No. All products and displays must remain within your allocated table or floor space. Items may not extend beyond your space as this affects the flow of the market.

Market Commission

South Market Vendor Agreement

By submitting this application, you agree to the following terms:

  1. All products must be approved by South Market before being sold at the market.
  2. Vendors are responsible for their own product stock, display, and setup.
  3. South Market retains a commission on all sales made through the POS system.
  4. Space allocations are subject to availability and market layout requirements.
  5. Vendors must comply with all health, safety, and municipal regulations.
  6. South Market reserves the right to approve or reject applications.
  7. Payment for stall rental must be made before the market date.
  8. Cancellations within 7 days of the market date may not be refunded.
  9. Vendors must be set up and ready at least 30 minutes before the market opens.
  10. South Market is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to vendor property.
